As I’m sure most of you are aware by now, I am basically a hobbit. I am a homebody by nature but will never turn down an adventure. I eat 12 meals a day. I enjoy good food, good drink, and good company. Also, I am short with ugly feet but that doesn’t seem particularly relevant here.
But I digress. Despite not being some kind of beautiful and etherial elf there are benefits to being friends with a hairy, fictional halfling- namely, our feasts. After the success of my Thanksgiving Feast Fest, I decided this year I would do a similar soiree for Easter. Of course, most people were away for Easter visiting families, churches and mysterious egg-laying bunnies so eventually the blessed day was pushed back to this Saturday, April 30th, also known as Tax Day (as in, you must get your taxes done, then come eat and drink your faces off).
So, one unseasonably stormy April evening as this graphic designer was sitting in front of her TV, she created this year’s Tax Day Feast Fest Invitation…
As a Psych major this both intrigues and dismays me. Visually I love it but psychologically there is far too much going on to infer meaning. Still… I’d put this on my wall.

The Dilema:
You are offered a free class at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
Do you take Letterpress (beautiful and fascinating but with little practical value in your particular trade) or Critical Thinking for Design (an obstacle course for the brain which may or may not produce a finished portfolio piece but offers you huge practical value)?
After an extended Christmas holiday- rife with food, drink, friends and family- I found it only fitting that my first blog post of the year be a review of the best packaging of 2010. Between the food and the packaging, it’s no wonder Whole Foods is like the bermuda triangle for me.

Truly the cream of the crop. You’re sure to get a lot of inspiration here!
Part 2 of my provincial pin series. This time around is an ode to Quebec- home to some of Canada’s best food, drink and art. It might be a little chillier than BC in the wintertime but I’d move to Montreal in a second if the opportunity presented itself (poutine, art, bagels, BYO wine at restaurants, oh my!)
Special thanks to lovely Reena for helping me come up that which is is truly Québécois.
I really love Audrey Kawasaki’s work. It’s all painted on wood- just gives it the best texture, so tactile! It was tough deciding which print of hers to post for this (they all kind of blow my mind).
My sister, my opposite and the other half, is studying Fashion Design and Marketing in Brisbane, Australia at the moment. She recently used Kawasaki’s beautiful paintings- the colours, lines, feel- as inspiration for her end of semester project, a clothing line. I can’t wait to see what she has come up with!
